Josh McLean (Him/He) | ACCREDITED MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL WORKER

Josh is a dedicated Mental Health Social Worker with additional qualifications in Health Science and Public Health. He is passionate about developing personalised treatment plans for youth and adults to help them achieve meaningful goals and enhance their wellbeing. With a diverse background spanning mental health, community development, school programs, alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention, bush adventure therapy, sensori-motor art therapy, and animal-assisted therapy, Josh brings a holistic and creative approach to his work.

He collaborates closely with individuals, families, and professionals to deliver comprehensive, person-centred care. Josh supports clients with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, neurodevelopmental conditions (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder—including PDA—and ADHD), OCD, addiction, bullying and harassment, relationship challenges, and adjustment to disability or illness. He also assists with life transitions, social and emotional skill development, and career or education-related stress, with a special interest in boys’ and men’s mental health.

Josh’s practice is grounded in a non-pathologising, trauma-informed, and psychodynamic approach. He integrates evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Strengths-Based and Solution-Focused approaches, Mindfulness, and Psychoeducation. Where appropriate, he also incorporates therapy dogs and art therapy to foster engagement and self-expression.
